Hi, I'm running Ubuntu Linux, and Korganizer does not sync reliably to Memotoo. (Details here: https://www.memotoo.com/forum/msg-4-8305-korganizer-always-overwrites-memotoo.ht...)

What desktop calendar software can you recommend?

You can use Lightning in Thunderbird (with CalDAV sync):

Thunderbird Calendar freezes for long periods of time each time I try to do anything. Maybe it's not built for 4000+ events.

Thunderbird Addressbook cannot sync photos and has lots of trouble with multiple email addresses.

(Due to freezing, I haven't been able to see what it did to multi-line addresses, Japanese names, custom address fields such as parents, work versus private email addresses, and other features that accumulate if you actually use PIM.)
