Hi,
I have been trying for quite a while to get my new Nokia 920 running Windows Phone 8 to successfully connect to Memotoo account. I followed the instructions from the home page exactly and the account creates successfully, but when I tell the account to sync, the sync starts and completes within 2 seconds. No data is actually synced.
Anyone else have any issus with Windows Phone 8?
Any help is really appreciated.

smile Posted 2012-11-29 - 15:06     Subject: Re: Windows Phone 8 Issues

It's getting better (Thanks!). It seems to sync once but then that's it. Here's what I have tested and the outcome of these tests:

TEST 1:
. Remove the account on my phone and on the website.
. Add the account on my phone and sync.
. All contacts were synced as expected.
. Delete a contact from the phone.
. Force a sync from my phone.
. All contacts were removed from my phone. They still exist on the website (even the one that I deleted from the phone).
. Remove the account on my phone.
. Re-add the account on my phone.
. Still, no contacts on my phone.

TEST 2:
. Repeat TEST 1 EXCEPT: Delete a contact from the website instead of from the phone.
. Still, no contacts on my phone.

TEST 3:
. First 3 steps from TEST 1.
. Delete a contact from the website.
. Force a sync from my phone.
. All contacts were removed from my phone.
. Remove the account from the website.
. Force a sync from my phone.
. All contacts were synced as expected. The contact that I had deleted from the website does NOT exist on the website or the phone (as expected).

It seems to me that removing and adding the account on my phone is not a problem. Instead, I think that the source of the problem is with the website. I then tested this assumption.

TEST 4:
. Remove the account from the website only (I left the account on my phone)
. Delete a contact from my phone.
. Force a sync from my phone (remember, there is no account on the website at this point)
. All contacts were removed from the phone (that was really unexpected).
. Remove the account from the website again.
. Force a sync from my phone.
. All contacts were synced as expected. The contact that I had deleted from phone no longer exists on the phone or website.

TEST 5:
. Remove the account from the website only (I left the account on my phone)
. Delete a contact from the website.
. Force a sync from my phone.
. All contacts were removed from the phone
. Remove the account from the website again.
. Force a sync from my phone.
. All contacts were synced as expected. The contact that I had deleted from website no longer exists on the phone or website.

Hopefully this helps you with troubleshooting.

This afternoon, I decided to just abandon trying to sync directly from the phone to the server. Instead, I set up a sync between my Windows Live account and the server. My testing is so far successful so the problem that I have described above is not a show-stopper. I can configure my account this way (through Windows Live). Now, on to testing my iPad and iPhone. If all goes well I'll be opening up a 12 month account soon.
Thanks

Ok thanks for theses tests

I think it will be better if you do not delete the sync in Memotoo (because there is files of history of sync you can not delete...)

So can you delete the sync on your phone and add it again ?
And tell me if it is OK ? Wait some hours before respond me to be sure it is always OK
(I have deleted the history of sync in Memotoo and deleted the history files also)

smile Posted 2012-11-29 - 19:05     Subject: Re: Windows Phone 8 Issues

I can continue to wait but my initial testing doesn't show a difference. When I force a sync from my phone, all of my contacts disappear. They only now exist on memotoo. I won't delete the sync on the website but that is the only thing that I could do last time to get it to work. So, at this point, I have no contacts on my phone and all of them on the website. I will leave it like this and see if anything changes. These are test contacts, of course.
Thanks

I just wanted to send a quick reply and let you know that tonight I upgraded the account to a premium one. I have set up my laptop, Mac notebook, iPad, iPhone, and Windows Phone and imported all of my calendar events and contacts. I now consider this data live so please don't delete it if you are testing anything

thanks!

Hi Chris

Can you try again to sync again ?

If it does not work, can you:
- delete the sync on your phone and in Memotoo: https://www.memotoo.com/my-account-sync-history.php
- add again the sync: https://www.memotoo.com/how-to-sync-your-phone-Nokia-920-Lumia-with-syncml.php?s...
And tell me if the ocntacts disappear again ?

Same problem. I removed the account from my phone and website and it synced as expected. I then removed a contact from my phone and forced a resync (from my phone). I have no contacts listed.

Thanks for your continued support with this.

Have the same issue with a HTC 8X.
I did clear the log in website and restart sync on phone.
It works one time.
But only one time - the second sync will delete all contacts in the phone again.
Please provide a solution to this.

To find what is wrong, can add again the sync, and tell the date when the contacts dissapear on your phone ?

Hi there
The error can be repeated whenever you want.
Sync works one time and the second time all contacts get erased on the phone. When you repeat sync for a third or forth time they won't come back.
Can you find it out with this? Just take a Windows Phone 8 device.
Or if not, let me know how to generate the required protocol and where to send it.

Shall I already start the second sync (when I will loose data again on the phone)?

Have you loose your data after the sync of (18-12-2012 - 22:51 GMT+1) ?

Hi,

I am experiencing the same problem with my HTC 8x. Sync finished but contacts, calendar and tasks remained empty. There are 1000+ contacts, events and tasks records in sync history.
Please, repair this feature because I do not see any alternatives to your service.

Yes - they are gone again.
To me it looks like the tool does not recognize what to sync after doing it for the first time. So second sync deletes everything on the mobile device.

Hi there
Oh... it's right after the first sync. I waited for maybe 1 min. or so?
I can not even tell you if it's the phone cleaning the memory or memotoo is telling the phone to do so.
I you look at my last log - this is the same always and it does not show the second sync.
Good luck!

In fact, the sync works fine with your account.

It is just the ActiceSync synchronization and how it works: the Memotoo contacts are put in a address book and it is not in the local address book. You must import first manually your contacts into Memotoo from your phone.
(but I do not know how to export confacts from your phone, Windows do not like this feature ...)
