Hello ... i'm having a SonyEricsson Xperia Mini PRO (U20i) with Android 2.1 (Update1) trying to sync Contact and Calender with Memotoo. Source is Outlook synced with funambol, other computers are Linux, all of them are working fine.
Syncing contacts works fine, calender does weird things. I have 6.600 calender entries in Memotoo and started to sync them, it worked but not all of them were properly synchronized. Later on with every sync, results changed, new entries were not synced at all, olders yes. I changed settings to just sync 4 month, deleted calender in the phone, forced a fully sync, since then, calender entries from 2007 (shown in the phone) are synced to 2011, going to the memotoo calender, those are not existing. Data is still fine, sync with all PC works.
Tried config MMS, got MMS, installed, no changes to the phone at all ....

Does anybody have an idea what's wrong ??

Thanks!
-Stefan

Hi, have an Xperia X8 Android 2.1, and I am able to sync my phone with Memotoo. Maybe I can help.

First of all, Android 2.1 has SyncML option. That's the one I'm using.

Second: if you don't want to sync all your Memotoo calendar(s) events with the phone, then you must create separate calendars in Memotoo first. Because if you do that afterwards, you will get duplicate data on the phone (the orphan data stays on the phone).

Third: forget the default calendar. Go and get Business Calendar for Android: https://market.android.com/details?id=netgenius.bizcal

The free version is great, and the paid one is even better. I tried several, and this one is great.

In Memotoo synch settings, select "sync some categories" and select each calendar SEPARATELY. It will show you the "folder" of the calendar (ex: calendar.123456). Write down that number.

Also in Memotoo check in the tools/synch history options if your calendar is set to sych both ways. If it's not, the phone will report a networt or database error.

Now in the phone, add a new synch account of type SyncML:
- Add the server address provided by Memotoo ( https://sync.memotoo.com/syncml)
- Add user name and password
- In calendar, add the address (e.g.: calendar.123456)

If you want to sync contacts as well, add the address for the contacts ("contacts.??????" or simply "contacts" for all). I have a category called "Cell Phone", and I only sync that one with the phone.

Set up synch schedule, etc, and you're done. Tap/select/unselect the calendar name to start synch immediatelly.

Warnings / Solutions:

1) If you add an account, and then erase it, the old (orphan) calendar data stays on the phone. And then when you add the account again, the data is received again by the phone and you get duplicate data. See below how to solve this.

2) The same happens if you install the free version of Business Calendar, and possibly of any other calendar, and then re-install or upgrade to paid version. This is a phone problem, not the application problem.

How to solve 1) and 2):

- In the Phone, go to Settings / Applications / Manage Applications
- Tap on the left button (menu button) of the phone
- Select Filter
- Select "All Applications"
- Look for "Calendar". Select it.
- Select "Clear Data".

This will ERASE ALL CALENDAR DATA FROM THE PHONE, including the duplicates.

Now, when you do a new synch, the data will be restored from Memotoo and all should be fine.

Phew. That made me tired. Enjoy.

- Preferably, get the paid version before you set up all configurations and calendars in it, as you will have to set them again in the Pro version
- In the settings, select Calendars, and tick only the calendars you want to see. I only show the Memotoo ones, and hide the Default (phone) one. The Default one comes from the Google account, which can't be removed. If you sync Memotoo with Google Calendar, the Default calendar on the phone may show items which are already in the Memotoo ones.
- In the same settings, select which (if any) calendars you want as preferred. These will show as flat buttons at the bottom, to show/hide them, just like in Google and in Memotto.
- You can configure the color of each calendar
- You can select the time span shown each day. Default is 06:00 to 22:00, so if you want to see all hours, remember to change this.

That's all.

I am not affiliated with Business Calendar. I tried it yesterday and bought it today.

An important hint: if you have a huge number of contacts in Memotoo, then I strongly recommend that you create a category just for the Cell Phone (any contact can be in this category, as well as in any other), and sync only this category.

I have 1500 contacts in Memotoo, and I made the mistake of trying to sync them all to the phone. It was very slow (even via WiFi), and actually pointless to have them all on the phone.

On the phone, you can configure the contacts to show contacts of one or more sync accounts / folders. So at any time you can hide/show a group (phone, Memotoo etc). If you choose to sync to all contacts in Memotoo (select only "contact" in SyncML settings), the phone will show all categories and you can still show/hide each one.

But I strongly recommend you don't sync all if you have a lot of contacts.
