Problem with Contacts sync - Outlook Outlook 2007 to MemotooRSS Feed

Hi again,

Question: I have 539 Contact records in my Outlook 2007 but only 398 made it into the Memotoo Address Book - why?!
I did look to see if having an empty Last Name or a First Name field might be the cause, but it appears that is not it.
(There are records that have only Company Name that did sync into Memotoo)
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you,

Hi

Can you try to do a recover with the Funambol plugin to force to replace all contact in Memotoo with the contacts in Outlook ?
-> "Tools" / "Recover" and select "Replace all of the server data with data from Outlook"

Now have you the same number of contacts ?

Salut Thomas,

I did what you said and it did not work.
I had 538 Contact records in Outlook 2007. After the Recover operation, Memotoo has 387 records in the Address Book.
The log shows 3 errors - please see below the end of the Log.
Note also that the Log says that only 395 records were uploaded to server and these are "Updated", not New.

you may have multiple address books in outlook. This can happen if you use exchange server or import address books from different sources.

In outlook go to Tools - Account Settings - Address Books

See if there is more than one in there. If so I would suggest backing up everything (just incase it all goes wrong) creating a new address book and copying all contacts into it (you can use right click / shift to select multiple contacts at once). When this is done go the memotoo plugin options and in the address book settings make sure the correct address book is selected.

Then sync

May be the contact "Sandi Pniauskas" has a photo in Outlook and the funambol can't arrive to encode it.
Delete it and try to do a recover ?

I've seen that same error with Funambol from Outlook 2003, and it's due to a photo existing on the Contact even if you don't think there is one - perhaps a data corruption.

(These instructions are for Outlook 2003, steps may differ in Outlook 2007.)
Open that Contact.
Switch to the "All Fields" tab.
Show "All Contact Fields".
Look at the "Attachments" entry - does it have a "Yes" or "No"?
If "Yes", then you have an attachment (possibly a picture/photo) on the Contact despite thinking you don't.

You could try running ScanPST/ScanOST on it as well.

You could just delete that one Contact (of course, you could re-create it - do not just "Copy" it).

Thank you very much for your suggestions - i will be sure to check the database as you suggest.
In the meantime, I have noticed other problems with my Funambol sync, but I had no time to post here about them.
Unfortunately, I am in an extremely busy period and I had to leave these issues by the side for now.
However, I just wanted to drop you a line in appreciation of your message.
