Task list grows from 17 to 1000+ when syncing to NokiaRSS Feed

I have about 20 tasks on the memotoo server and when I set up a new sync (memo too -> device) to a Nokia E50 (with no prior PIM data on it and no other sync setup like exchange or Lotus) the device tells me I have 1097 tasks! A two-way sync does not solve the issue, nor does it add another 1000+ tasks to MT so I am not sure what is going on.
