Hello!

When I try to synchronize between Outlook, MemoToo and WM6.1 with the latest Funambol clients, these two problems occur:
1. All notes are synchronized from Outlook to Memotoo, but only one note is synched from MemoToo to the mobile device.
2. The "complete" status of tasks isn't synced between the mobile device and Memotoo. Recurring tasks work poorly either way, they don't seem to sync true from Outlook to MemoToo.

Are these issues known problems? Are there any work arounds?

Hello again!

I finally found the time to do some simple testing of one way sync with MemoToo and the Funambol plugins for Outlook and Pocket PC.
Latest version of the plugins, Outlook 2003 and Pocket PC 6.1.

1. Synching Outlook to MemoToo:
Forcing a complete sync of all Todo-data from Outlook to MemoToo results in:
-When several ToDos have the same name, only one is synced from Outlook to MemoToo. This is regardless of whether the task is done or if they have different dates. So it is not possible to sync a task that is planned to happen on several occasions.
-Completed ToDos are synched from Outlook to MemoToo, if their name is unique.
These limitations are predictable.

2. Syncing from MemoToo to the Pocket PC:
All events that exists on MemoToo are synced - but the completed status is not preserved on the Pocket PC.

3. Changing ToDo-data in the Pocket PC (due-dates), syncing back to MemoToo.
First generated a sync error, "Sync not completed"
On the next sync, it comes through. However, no changes are noted in MemoToo!

4. Trying to complete a task in MemoToo. Clicking the check-box next to the ToDo doesn't change its status. Opening the ToDos makes it possible to change them. Also, experimenting with setting the status to "waiting".

5. Syncing back to Outlook, these changes are replicated back to Outlook, but a regenerated ToDo doesn't remove the previous ToDo, so we are left with two: the original one and a newly created recurring ToDo that appears a few days before the original.

6. Again syncing MemoToo -> the Pocket PC = no change on the Pocket PC, which logically is because regenerated ToDos have the same name as those already existing on the Pocket PC.

7. Changing the date of a unique ToDo in MemoToo, syncs to both Outlook and the Pocket PC.


We can conclude that recurring ToDos are not reliable with Funambol, because the clients can't deal with two objects sharing the same name.


** So it seems there are two important problems with ToDo-sync:
a. The completed status is NOT preserved to the Pocket PC.
b. Changes on the Pocket PC are not synced back to MemoToo.
The other problems should be possible to avoid through not using reocurring ToDos and through using unique names on the ToDos.


I understand that many of these issues are related to Funambol not being what we wish for. However, for these last two, are there any workarounds?
I would really like for this (and notes sync) to work!

Thanks for your analyse

For information, Memotoo doesn't accept task with recurring so they don't be save into Memotoo. Some task could have the same name.

To correct your problem:
1 - add a complete task on Memotoo "Test 1" and sync
2 - add a complete task on your Pocket PC "Test 2" and sync
3 - Modify the "Test 2" on your Pocket PC and sync

Tell me when you have do this, I will see the log files.

Thank you for the fast reply. I have now done what you asked for, hope it will be of some use. The funambol client caused error messages, but appeared to go through with the sync.

For this reason, even though it is a fresh install, I'm probably going to reinstall the Funambol client on my Pocket PC soon.

Hello!
I have done this now. Syncing from MemoToo to the pocket pc works, but as yesterday, the funambol client on the pocket pc says that it is copying data to the server, then it shows an error message and the sync stops. Repeating doesn't do anything. It seems that sync is only one way right now?

I think I have found why you can't sync. Vérify that Security Encryption is disabled in the Funambol preferences.

Hello. Thank you very much for your interest and dedication! Changing this parameter on the Pocket PC did enable changes to propagate back to MemoToo. However, some more tests revealed that it wasn't 100% reliable, probably because of the Funambol sw. I also found that categories didn't propagate properly from Outlook to MemoToo - this time the Funambol sw for Outlook wasn't always reliable. I have decided to call off this now, and return when there is some more reliable software out there. I don't have time to test any more now, unfortunately.
Memotoo clearly is the most interesting of these sites - I'm keeping my account and hope to return!
