What should the "Show completed tasks" setting do? I figured it was to optionally hide completed tasks when viewing "All" tasks. Changing the option right now only toggles between 1) a line through the text of completed tasks or 2) the text of completed tasks without the line.
So, what is the use of this?
If just the line/strike-through is the difference, I guess the description of the option is kind of confusing...
My suggestion:
- When set to "yes" completed tasks are also shown in the "All" tab. (Maybe with an extra option to strike them through)
- When set to "no", do not show completed tasks in the "All" tab.
- In the "Completed" tab, obviously completed tasks should always be shown, no matter what the option is set to. And I guess in this tab they should never be stricken through
if you set "Show completed tasks" to "No":
- in "All" tasks: the tasks completed are hidden
- in "Completed" tasks: the tasks are not line/strike-through
- in your calendar: the tasks are not shown
Only one small note: I think the completed tasks in the "Completed" tab would never have to be lined/stricken-through because the tab already indicates the status of these tasks and the line only makes them harder to read (currently when set to "yes" the tasks in the "Completed" tab ARE stricken through).
Off course striking them through in the "All" tab is very good to be able to separate them from ongoing tasks.
You might think I will never be satisfied, but there is one more thing
When hovering over a completed task (whether it is in the "All" tab or the "Completed" tab) the title and the description in the popup/tooltip are still stricken through. Again, since the status of the task is already known either by the strike-through in the list or by the tab you are viewing, I guess the text in this tooltip doesn't need to be stricken through and will make it harder to read in this location as well.
So I do not think the striking-through in de tooltip adds to a good user experience.
To sum it all up: my suggestion is to never and nowhere show the text stricken-through EXCEPT for the title of completed tasks in the "All" tab if the option "Show completed tasks" is set to "yes".
